1. Jessica Sacks - September 25, 2009

Hi! My name’s Jessica. I’ve been working together with Chasiya on setting up Jewish Dis/Ability Unite and I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes up here.
Chasiya and I have been friends since we met each other at the age of 3, in Barnet Opportunity Playgroup, an integrated pre-school in London. I moved to Jerusalem in 2004. I live an Orthodox life, work as a translator, and love to study. I am physically able and healthy, for which I am grateful to God.
I have spent the last two years as a fellow in the Beit Midrash for Social Justice. This is a research group run by Beit Morasha of Jerusalem, together with Bema’aglei Tzedek, an activist organisation that campaigns for the rights of people with disabilities, as well as other groups that are not represented as they should be. My time in the Beit Midrash made me think about the role of religion in social change. I believe that our religious identities should make us better activists, and that ancient sources can help us make justice and peace, if only we can learn to use them well.

2. Chasiya Freilich - February 3, 2010

My name is Chasiya Freilich and I am one of the founders of this site. I am 27 years old and I live in London in the UK. I suffer from Familial Dysautonomia which is a Jewish Genetic Disease that affects the autonomic nervous system. I got involved in this site as I feel that there is a need for an active forum for the Jewish people that are disabled. I feel that this can be a useful tool to help solve the problems that are facing the disabled in the society today; I feel that instead of being another forum that is stagnating that we can be an active forum where we can all learn and help each other.

3. noa - April 23, 2010

my name is Noa. Since half a year I live in Jerusalem. I am a New Immigrant from Germany, 51 years old and I found a job in the Hadassah hospital Mount Skopus, as a social worker in the center of Dysautonomia, the team of Chani Maayan, who ist the Prof. there. I got in touch with the Disease which I didn`t know until now.
I work now a few weeks there and I am glad, that you, Chasiya and Jessica founded this page! It will be a help for everyone who suffers from F.D. give him or her the chance to tell other people his experiences and give him some advice and support. My idea was also, that people with this Disease are often alone with their thoughts and problems, so that it would be a very good idea, to have a Forum to speak about it.
THanks for this wonderful idea! I will join and I will ask also Dr. Chani Maayan, if she can give some advice.
And – I also hope to learn from you more and more about the Disease, so that my work in the F.D.-center will get more professional and helpful for the patients.
Good luck to all of you!!
